Ray Wiebe practices primarily family law. His family law practice is focused on high net worth clients, many of whom are in the farming or business sectors. He has successfully conducted many trials in the Saskatchewan Court of Queen’s Bench and appeals in the Court of Appeal. He is also a Qualified Family Law Arbitrator and serves as Chairman of the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission.
Ray Wiebe has developed a very successful practice in family law, divorce and collaborative law. Ray now serves primarily high net worth clients involved in divorce or family law proceedings. Ray is particularly adept at handling cases involving business interests and tax issues. Ray has conducted many Saskatchewan Court of Queen’s Bench trials and argued a significant number of appeals before the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal. Ray is also a Qualified Family Law Arbitrator, having been certified by the ADR Institute of Canada.
Ray has been appointed to the role of Chairman of the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission, after having served as a Commissioner since 2016. The Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission is the governing body of all Legal Aid offices in the Province of Saskatchewan. As Chairman, Ray acts as the head of the organization at the board level.
Ray provides services to clients in the area of wills, estates and trusts, including the development and implementation of estate planning initiatives designed to maximize the transfer of wealth from one generation to the next, minimizing tax in the process.
Ray’s estate litigation practice includes taking legal action for the protection or advancement of the interests of family members who have a claim on the estate, interpretations of wills and preservation of estate assets for the intended beneficiaries.
Ray also handles a steady volume of real estate transactions, both commercial and residential.
Ray also provides legal services for businesses, including incorporations, shareholder agreements, purchase and sale of businesses, and reorganizations, often done with tax planning strategies in mind.
