Tarissa Peterson is a litigation associate with a broad civil and commercial litigation practice. She has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in Saskatchewan, including the Court of Appeal, Court of King’s Bench, Provincial Court, and various administrative tribunals.
Before joining McDougall Gauley, Tarissa served as in-house legal counsel for one of Canada’s largest privately owned corporations, managing complex, high-stakes litigation across multiple jurisdictions, including Canada, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
Raised in a small rural farming community in Southern Saskatchewan, Tarissa’s passion for broadening her global perspective led her to travel extensively. She worked aboard international cruise ships, lived in Bermuda, and studied in England. Having traveled to over 80 countries, these experiences enriched her understanding of international legal and social issues, inspiring her to pursue a legal career focused on justice and reform.
Driven by a lifelong passion for international relations, Tarissa completed academic work at Harvard University, culminating in a thesis under the guidance of Harvard Law Professor Gabriella Blum that highlighted the socioeconomic exploitation within the cruise ship industry. She continues to advocate for legal reform, with her most recent research about to be published in one of the world’s top five international law journals.
Rooted deeply in Saskatchewan, Tarissa is committed to serving Saskatchewan communities, combining her local expertise with a global outlook to deliver effective legal solutions tailored to her clients’ needs.
