Overview

Calen (he/him/his) advises in all areas of labour and employment law including:

  • Employment agreements;
  • Workplace policies;
  • Employment standards;
  • Discipline and dismissals;
  • Reorganizations;
  • Workplace investigations;
  • Bargaining and collective agreement disputes;
  • Human rights matters; and
  • Workplace safety and workers’ compensation matters.

Calen appears before various administrative tribunals including the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board. He has also appeared before all levels of court in Saskatchewan.

Calen has general civil and commercial litigation experience with an emphasis on intellectual property, shareholder and agriculture disputes. He also has experience with professional regulation and discipline matters.

A recent Saskatchewan Court of King’s Bench decision provides clarity as to when the duty to accommodate under The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code, 2018 [the “Code”] can be engaged for Saskatchewan employers.
